We Believe

Many years ago, a customer of my dad's asked him what do Catholics believe anyway. There is certainly a lot of misinformation about the subject available. Dad's answer was so clear, I have tried to remember it myself, should I ever be asked the question!

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of Heaven and Earth,

and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,

Who was Conceived by the Holy Spirit,
Born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended to the dead,

On the Third Day he rose again,
He ascended into Heaven,

and is seated at the Right Hand of the Father,

from whence He shall come to Judge the Living and the Dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the Communion of Saints,
the Forgiveness of sins,
the Resurrection of the Body,
and Life Everlasting,
Amen.

I think if you ask yourself, "Do I believe this too?" you will find that we agree on more than we don't. If there were one site I would recommend to find answers about the Catholic Church, maybe EWTN.

Dad is a smart man, isn't he? I'll post more Dad Answers another time :-)
